Elias Clayton, Elmer Jackson, Isaac McGhie
Duluth, Minnesota
June 15, 1920
A mob of five-thousand people dragged six circus workers from a cell
for alleged assault of a white girl at the circus grounds in Duluth Minnesota. A hastily
thrown together trial found three of the defendants "not
guilty". The others were hanged. A later investigation by civil authorities found that
none of the hanged could have been involved.
