Ike Fitzgerald Ike Fitzgerald was accused of raping a young woman. He was arrested, jailed, and prosecuted for the crime in Tiptonville, Tennessee. The jury was unable to agree on a verdict so several observers in the courtroom seized Mr. Fitzgerald, rushed him into the street and hung him from a tree.
