William Hardeman William Hardeman, a 49 year old preacher from Elliott Station, Mississippi was murdered at his home. He had made a sarcastic remark to Mrs. Neal, a white resident of the same town. That evening, a gang of white men drove to his house and killed him with a blast from a shotgun.
