Patrick and Charlotte Morris

Patrick Morris, who was white, was married to Charlotte
Morris, an African-American. They lived in Jefferson Parish,
Louisiana. They had one child, Patrick Morris, Jr. A mob of
twenty white men went to their house and after shooting the couple, they
placed their bodies on their bed and used axes to hack them to pieces. They then burned the house to the ground. Patrick Jr. managed to escape by swimming across the river.
